Choices: A poem

We are faced with many forks in the road.
Choices if you may.
Do we go left?
Do we go right?
Or do we defy all logic and go straight!
The easy road gets you nowhere.
It leads to the comfort zone.
While in the comfort zone you are stuck.
No chance of going up.
Only going down.
Because when you choose the safe road there is no risk,
No pain.
No challenge.
But with that comes no growth.
No victory.

There are many factors that need to be counted for.
Before making a choice.
Friends and family see completely different sides of things than you do.
Your inner voice.
Because deep down you are the only one who knows what you want.
A brave heart.
One that is not afraid to take chances/
Trusts others and loves others.
A heart that has seen a battle and will never run from a fight.
And finally a strong mind.
Not a book smart mind.
But a a mind that knows what it wants.
A mind that is tune with the heart, and the inner voice.
A mind that values your friends and families opinion.
But ultimately has your best interest in mind.
A brave heart and a strong mind are an unstoppable combination.
And if you know how to use them there will be no stopping you!

So do not be afraid to go straight when the world only offers you left or right,
The easy lighted path most likely will never lead to your dreams.
Take the dark road.
The road that has fear.
Pain.
Obstacles.
New beginnings.
The road that leads to your destination.
What you truly want.
Because if you truly want it,.
You yourself will guide you.
Guide you to your inner victory!

I am.....

I still remember that first picture I saw of you.
You looked like an alien.
Not a child.
You grew in your mommys stomach.
Listening to the world from inside.
Preparing to change our world on the outside.
Getting ready to make me the man I am.

The first time I held your finger I knew my life had changed.
Changed for the good.
The ultimate test was before me.
And I knew if I failed.
I also would be failing you.
You were so tiny.
And made me feel like the biggest man on this planet.
That day you made me the man I am.

As you grew you decided you needed some playmates.
Your prayers were answered not once, but twice.
Giving you not only a brother, but a sister also.
I instantly became two things when my children were born.
My sons first hero.
My daughters first love.
They made me the man I am today.

Each day you challenge me in ways I will never understand.
And probably in ways you don't either.
I hope I pass the test.
Whether it being a hero.
Villain.
Prince.
And yes sometimes a princess so you can do my hair.
Those are the days that make me the man I am today.

Blessed.
Lucky.
Are two words that don't come close to explaining how I feel.
How I feel to be chosen to become a dad to you three.
Because of you three you have made me the man I am today.

Jaiden's, Brodey's, and BayLei's Dad.
And sometimes Mr. Miller.
Is how I am known now.
I have lost my name when it comes to children.
But that is ok.
Because you have made me the man I am today.
Your father.
And I couldn't be happier!

Powerless!

Note this songs meaning doesn't reflect this blog I just couldn't stop thinking of the thought of being powerless to ones life after listening to it.

Powerless!

There are few things in our life where we are powerless, but that is ok because you have the power everywhere else.  One of lifes greatest games is throwing stuff at you to see if you can handle it, such as cars breaking down, money getting stolen, getting stuck in a snow bank, or people that just test you.  You are powerless for the most part of the events that are thrown at us to test us.  To see how strong we are. How brave we are. How determined we are.  What kind of person we will become.  You are powerless at the events, but you hold all the power of how you handle it.  Sure you could go sit in the corner and cry poor little old me, or you can do the right thing get back up, and figure out the best result, and make it HAPPEN!

People are put in our life for us to love, learn from. teach, and test us.   We are powerless over other people in most situations, because ultimately what they want to do should come down to them.  If not they do not realize their inner power.  We have the power to love how we want to, learn all that we can, teach others, and ignore @$$holes!  But some would like to feed into the negative and just give in to the others attitude.  In a way becoming powerless.  Giving them exactly what they want, an altercation, where they hold all the power, because you have lost a portion of yours, and they know it.  You can love who you want in this world, but you are powerless to how that person will react.  It might be the same way you show love, or it might be completely different.  People who we trust never stop trying to teach us, and we also have the ability to always teach others.  We have the power to help, but we are powerless of making others listen unless they want to.  Ultimately you have all the power within in you for your life.

The trick in life is knowing what you have the power to influence, and what you are completely powerless in controlling.  Once you have that figured out you will live a happy life, and most likely a successful one.  Life comes down to those three rules: You must know what you cannot change.  Have the courage to change the things you can.  And finally the wisdom to know the difference.  It's pretty straight forward, and applies everywhere in life.  The people who fight those three rules are extremely unhappy, and usually unpleasant to be around.  They either think one of two things crap always happens to me, O woe is me, or they think they have the power to control the world and hate themselves when they realize they only have real power within their own world.  Simple accept those three rules and live a happy life.

The Truth!

If you can't tell the subject of this blog by the title or the picture please stop reading.  Just kidding!  I haven't really wrote a blog in a while, it has been taken over by poems, and that is the truth.  And the reason is simple my poems are like quick blogs that I write in prose form, and my blogs are more of a longer form of writing and take a little bit longer.  And the truth about my book is I'm still stuck writing the second chapter, so hopefully that chapter count will move up soon, because the truth is I'm scared to write it, and that is what is holding me back.

Its been said if you always tell the truth you never have to remember the story you have told in the first place.   Chances are you won't tell the same story to every single person and sooner or later you will screw up and will be caught in a lie sooner or later.  When you lie you hurt many people. and break something that requires a lot of work fixing, trust.  Once you have lied to someone it is extremely hard to get anyone to trust you.  I have been lied to so many times in my life by all kinds of people.  I'm not naming names, because there is no point in doing so, but I still give them a little trust, in hope that the shred of trust I give them won't be betrayed in the end.  But sadly it usually is, and being the kind of person I am I keep handing out chances.  But there comes a time when trust is broken so many times. that is has no hope of being put back together, and for me that point is now.  I'm telling you right now as a warning, my trust will lie within those who tell me the truth, and to those who lie all your second, third, fourth, twenty chances are going bye, bye!  I'm tired of being hurt by lies, by others and myself.

The sad thing is I lie all the time, but not to others, but myself.  I hand out advice left and right, and tell others they have the power to be their own heroes, and for others I believe it, but towards myself, truthfully I don't feel it.  A hero never quits, but also a true hero is truly afraid of starting.  The truth of the matter is that success, failure, and a lot of dedication are scaring me right now from fulfilling my dream and destiny of leaving the cheese.  My best friend asked me how much longer do you plan on working at the Cheese, and I told them I don't know, but I want out!  But that is half of a lie, because a part of me wants to stay there, for one reason,  it's safe.  Safe is stable, safe is comfortable. safe is following along.  But safe is not success. safe is not victory and dedication, and safe is not my destiny.  Our inner truth is known by only one person and its not God, it's you.  Yes God has created us, but He has given us free will to find out our own inner truth, and become that.  With and without his help whether some want to accept that or ignore the fact.  The truth is we are born with a destiny, a purpose, but if you never look inside and see how strong, brave, dedicated, and determined you have to be achieve that destiny, you will never reach it.

Its a short blog post I'm sorry but there is two reasons why.  First, the truth being told is not complicated.  It's the right thing to do, and the only thing to become.  Your true self!  Why you were born, why you were put here, and why you meet the people you meet.  All that is a part of your inner truth you have to find within yourself.  Second is because I have a poem on fatherhood I will posting later this week in honor of two things, Father's Day and the reason I became a father in the first place, my son's birthday.  Look for that one later this week.  Third because I'm looking for people who won't let me give up on my book (if you are this person please let me know!).  And fourth because its my blog. my thoughts, and my inner truth.  :)  And I lied in that first sentence of this paragraph saying there are only two reasons. because when I looked in while writing I noticed truthfully there were 4, well probably more.  The inner truth is never black and white. its a vibrant array of colors, and it's up to you to show the world all your true colors.

Hero or Villian

The way I see it I have two choices.
Be the hero I desperately want to become.
Or give in to the worlds peer pressure and events becoming a villain.
Should I stop trying to save a world that isn't appreciative of being saved.
Or do I just sit back and watch the world burn.
Laughing in the ashes.
Smiling during the carnage.
Not lifting a single finger to help.
Screams of help would fall on ears that stopped caring.
Hero or villain what will it be.

Villains rule the world.
Heroes are our silent protectors.
Rarely recognized how they should be.
They save who they save and disappear.
Villains outnumber the heroes.
A very dangerous unbalance.
The selfish, self centered, non caring are the ones who succeed.
The selfless, caring, all around good guys never stop fighting.
Fighting the fight that seems to have no end.
And sadly no victory in sight for the good guys.
Hero or villain what will it be.

Sometimes the events of life push further and further to the dark side.
Where giving into your demons and dimming your inner light seem to be the only way.
The place where all smiles are behind a shade of hate.
An inner victory you have stolen from another.
Heroes never compromise who they are.
When they see that light starting to dim the find a way to make it brighter than the other day.
That is the hero way.
Hero or villain what will it be.

Tainted victory.
Fake feelings.
Never ending battle which one will lose in the end.
Genuine happiness.
Money, power, greed.
A place at the top of the mountain.
Respect, love, acceptance.
Helping others climb.
Hero or villain what will it be.

I know which one it will be.....

Wake up!

Wake Up!

Eyes are closed.
Every sound you hear is background noise.
Birds chirping.
Children laughing.
Wind blowing.
This is life.
Open your eyes and ears and WAKE UP!

Every day you get out of bed.
The world will be here if you get up or not.
Don't wait for the world to wake you up.
You need to wake up the world!
If you stand still.
The world still moves.
If you don't like something.
You are the only one who can change it.
Get off your butt and WAKE UP!

Life is full of mysteries waiting to be discovered.
And the discoveries are not planned.
The greatest days of your life are not the ones that are planned.
But more the ones where you least expect greatness.
Walking around in a sleep state.
Days go by and the only thing that changes is the date.
It's up to me WAKE UP!

Demons

Demons

The demons in our mind we have created on our own,
Through constant negative thoughts they are fed and have grown.
They have many different names.
Faces.
Voices.
And you have provided them with them all.
They might represent past scars.
Or future fears.
Bottom line they are your demons.

Fear.
Depression.
Loneliness.
Sadness.
Might be some of the names you have given them.
Demons know when you are most vulnerable, and that is always when they attack.
When you are alone.
Just thinking.
That is when they get you off guard.
When you have no defense.
Or no offense.
Bottom line they are your demons.

Demons are here for a reason though,
True they are darkness.
But with every darkness comes light.
Once we learn to conquer them we become stronger.
But as well our demons remember our tricks and will try to trick us in other ways.
That's why we must never stop fighting them.
Because as soon as you put down your sword.
You are done.
Bottom line they are your demons.

Life is too short to have enemies.
Especially when it feels like your greatest enemy is within.
You can learn to control your demons.
Turn fear into determination.
Depression and sadness into eternal optimism.
Loneliness to your time.
And past scars into lessons learned by life.
Bottom line they are your demons.
And I promise once you learn to conquer them, you will love them for what they truly are.
Lessons.
